During this month we have had lots of opportunities to explore the outdoor environment with trips to the woods, park and orchard.

In our first week of  August we focussed on the story Bear Hunt  where the children got creatine making their own bear masks. They explored the different textures of materials in the bear hunt story : grass, forest, mud, river, snow and cave.

We then spent a week looking at pirates where we created and followed our treasure map to locate the hidden treasure in the woods.  We explored a range of materials to create our own pirate treasure chest. We also had lots of fun imagining we were pirates and dressing up to play the part.

We have had fun learning about the circus, making our own lion plates using various orange media and materials. We explode different textures using pasta to create our own crazy clowns.

In the last week of August we have focussed our attention to the five senses  exploring all textures inside and outside of the nursery with woodland walks and muddy puddle jumping. The children enjoyed investigating various scents with thyme, mint and rosemary.
