Clare Spencer

I am a qualified Early Years teacher with over 30 years of experience within the role. I pride myself on being an exemplary practitioner, constantly striving to model, share and inspire outstanding practice within the team.

During my career I have taught in a range of settings; international schools both in Europe and  the Far East, as well teaching for many years in London before moving back to Devon several years ago. I also have had extensive experience of a range of senior leadership roles including Early Years Head/Assistant Head of a large school in West London.

Working with young children has always been a passion of mine; it is so rewarding to see them grow into adventurous, inquisitive and confident little learners; it is a privilege and a pleasure to be part of their journey.

Rosie Beer

I am a qualified and experienced Early Years Teacher having previously trained as a Nursery Nurse. I have worked in committee run and school run Pre-Schools, a Private International Early Years School in Dubai. I have visited many different early years settings in the UK and in Australia, Thailand, New Zealand and Finland to understand what creates the very best Early Years Education internationally.

I particularly like incorporating elements of Reggio Emilia into my Early Years practice by ensuring the environment is always inspiring and inviting.

I have always wanted to work with children and the commitment to providing exceptional care and education in the Early Year has been at the centre of my career.

The most enjoyable part of my job is watching children flourish and develop into curious and imaginative little people.

From a very young age I knew that I wanted a career within childcare; beginning my journey as a year 10 student, gaining a range of experiences and knowledge whilst at college as well as working in different settings.

I love to see children grow and build their own personalities whilst being a big part of the start of their lives.

I am very passionate about working with children and take great pride in watching my pre-school group grow and develop, gaining the confidence to move onto the next stage of their life.

I changed my career a little later in life, having raised my daughter and worked within the retail and customer service for a great number of years.

I have never looked back as the joy of being a part of so many children’s lives is so rewarding and enjoyable.

Fiona Hanson

I have recently gained my NVQ 3 as an Early Years Educator, and have also studied Child development. My previous experiences in childcare include working in a creche, and as a private nanny. I love being outdoors and am well travelled having lived and worked in Australia.

I believe that my energy and enthusiasm whilst engaging with children is reflected in my work and I hold a particular passion for the magic of books and communication. My belief is that these early years are vitally important in a child’s growth and development and I thrive to support each youngster’s wellbeing.

Gemma Bates

I am very committed to helping children achieve their milestones and early learning goals.

Having grown up with younger family members I knew from a very young age that child care would be my chosen career.

Children are amazing! Supporting their growth and development is a real privilege and I love to watch them take their first steps in our nursery. I really enjoy being in the outdoor environment; children have such a curiosity and are fascinated by even the smallest details in the world around them.

I love travelling and spending weekends outdoors. We live in a beautiful world!

I love working with children, I’ve been working with children since I was 18 starting off as an apprentice and gaining my level 3 qualification.

I am a big kid myself, I like to have fun and being energetic and i reflect that in my practice with the children. Playing, working with children I just have a huge passion for and find it exciting every single day, no day is ever the same, i also want to leave an impact on children’s lives and give them the best start into education.

My passion with children is to explore the outdoors, being sporty, doing activities that will benefit their learning. I love just playing alongside children being 1 to 1 or in a group and capturing their imagination and being in their world.

I have a 3 year old son, he’s my absolute world. I love being outdoors, going out for walks, playing football and just generally having fun with him.

I have worked at Happy Hares since May 2019. I have always wanted to pursue a career in childcare; I now have the chance to fulfil my passion for working with children and watching them grow and develop.

I love to encourage children to explore messy activities and to create their own adventures through play. I believe that this gives  children the skills they need to equip them for the best start in life.

I am a proud mum to my beautiful daughter. We enjoy being in the great outdoors and building creations with a range of different resources and media.

I have had the pleasure of working at Happy Hares for just over a year. I previously have had 17 years experience of working within childcare. What I enjoy most about being with the children is discovering their unique personalities and watching them grow, learn and develop.

I have two children of my own (aged 6 and 14). In my own time I like to go the the gym and spend time with my family and friends.

I started my apprenticeship at Happy Hares in September 2020 and since then it has been amazing watching the children learn and grow. I love working with children and helping them in the vital first years of their learning and development. I enjoy bringing my knowledge and learning from my studies at college into the setting and I always use my learning to improve my practise and learning with the children. My favourite part of my job is singing and dancing with all the children! In the future I would love to work abroad with children at different holiday destinations.

Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to work with children. As soon as I left secondary school I volunteered in a nursery and reception class. I found so much joy from that and that’s when I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do. Recently I have started to teach myself Makaton, this is something I am very passionate about. Communicating is so important and Makaton is just one of the many amazing ways we can use to express ourselves and communicate with others.

I absolutely love how curious the children are and how willing they are to explore and learn anything. I feel very lucky that I am able to be part of their journey!

I’ve always had a passion with working with children. I chose GCSE child care in year 10 and from then on, I’ve had amazing experiences in different schools and Early Years Settings which I highly enjoyed and can use my learnt skills in my current role.

I really enjoy helping children to achieve their learning goals, watching children grow and engaging with them in many activities is a privilege! Further so, I enjoy doing 1-1 sessions and small group activities in areas they struggle to learn or need help with. It’s a very heart warming and positively overwhelming job to work here with the children.

I have been working in Childcare since 2016 and haven’t once looked back. I genuinely enjoy working with children and being able to create a positive and safe environment in which they can flourish and develop. I love watching their imaginations flow and listening to the fantastic stories they have to share.

I also have taken a Business course as well as well as a Level 2 Health and Nutrition Course. I feel very lucky to have been brought up in Devon, I enjoy spending time outdoors, going for long walks and camping along the coast in my van.
