We have welcomed in 2026 with lots of cold icy weather. We have been looking at the ice, how it melts into water and how to make ice. The first two weeks of January, we learnt about Winter. We learnt about animals we find in colder countries, such as polar bears and penguins. We created our own snowmen pictures, demonstrating great fine motor skills as we used sponges and paintbrushes.
This month we have been looking at the weather describing different types of weather and making a weather chart. Each day, we looked outside across the fields to see what the weather was, e.g. cloudy!
In line with children’s mental health week, we have been looking at emotions, how we feel and what makes us happy or sad. We have explored this by creating our own emotion plates, using colours to express how we feel.
