This month at Lovacott Nursery, we have centred our activities around Autumn, Halloween, Recycling Day, and the celebration of the Diwali festival.
In our Autumn theme, we have been exploring natural materials such as leaves, conkers, and pine cones, using them to create pictures. Outdoor activities included making Gruffalo crumble and mud pies, where the children engaged in counting how many scoops of mud they added.
The children have also been learning about the significance of recycling. We conducted numerous activities using recycled materials, including a sorting exercise where they matched items to the correct recycling bins.
For Halloween, we used a variety of media to create pumpkin-themed artwork. The children showcased their fine motor skills by catching bats in our sensory rice tray and enjoyed carving pumpkins while discussing how they grow and describing the textures inside. During Diwali, we explored the story of lighting a lamp, listened to traditional songs, explored and created our own Rangoli patterns, and dressed in traditional outfits. It has certainly been another busy month at Lovacott Nursery!
